Looking Back On Your Old Self
Isn’t it interesting looking back on old pictures? Especially younger versions of yourself. You didn’t know back then the mistakes you would make or what seasons of life were ahead.
That old version of yourself just knew how to be a kid. And that’s the thing, when you’re a kid you don’t have to accomplish anything to be who you are.
You didn’t need a career, or money. You had no need to impress anyone. You didn’t have to have life figured out or prove that you were worthy, you were simply loved because you were a child.
We forget that as we grow up though. We start believing our value and identity comes from what we accomplish or what we do for a living. We reach for identity in our relationships, appearance, or reputation.
We start to live our lives as if we have to earn the love that God has already offered us. But here’s the thing. Before you ever understood who God was, He knew you. Before you ever made mistakes, He chose you. And even when you were far from Him, He didn’t stop being your Father.
Psalm 139:13 tells us that “You created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
God knew you before you knew yourself. He knows the person you are today.
Your worst season doesn’t make you less loved by Him and your greatest accomplishment doesn’t make you more loved by Him. Your identity begins with Him.
You don’t have to be impressive or cleaned up to come to God. He will meet you wherever you are today and bring you to where He wants you. You just have to repent, which means to turn away from your sins and turn to Him and accept Jesus as your Lord and savior.
Make Jesus Lord of your life today. He knows you completely and Has been calling you from the beginning.
