When God Opens Our Eyes | Devotional By Chad Nathan

It’s a strange feeling when God opens our eyes and we see things in a way we never have before.

Sometimes we look back and we realize we were moving in a direction we never should have gone in. We see choices we regret and foundations of ours that were not built on Christ.

It feels overwhelming. It’s like “How did I spend so much time chasing things that could never satisfy me?” And “Can God really do something with my life after all of this?”

But the beautiful thing about God is that he doesn’t just show us where we went wrong, He gives us a picture in scripture of where He wants to lead us.

Feeling conviction for our past wrongs is not God standing over us with condemnation. It’s God lovingly calling us back home.

Sometimes when God wakes us up it feels painful. We finally see the things we were blind to. But the pain of conviction is not rejection, it’s healing.

I can relate to this. I am 24 years old but spiritually I feel like I am only about 7 months old. My life has existed for 24 years but my understanding of who God is, who I am, and how I am called to live feels so new.

Maybe you know that feeling. Maybe you feel like you are starting over. But God is not limited by your past. God can redeem wasted years, and restore broken places, and He can transform your failures into wisdom.

If you have had a moment where God opened your eyes, don’t run from the conviction, Bring it to Him.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
