When We Hold Back On Serving The Lord Out Of Fear | Devotional By Chad Nathan
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9
Fear tends to make us hesitate. We know God is calling us to do something, but then our minds start racing. “What if I mess up?”
The truth is that many of us hold back not because we don’t love the Lord but because we are afraid of the reactions of people.
A good friend of mine, Gene Padgett shared something that has stuck with me. A piece of advice given to him by Robert Beach that completely changed the way he looked at praying and serving in front of others.
“When you get up there to pray, that’s just between you and God.”
When we embrace that truth it changes everything. We stop worrying so much about who is listening but instead on the one we are talking to.
Don’t let fear keep you from serving the Lord.
God doesn’t need flawless people, He just wants people who are willing to trust Him.
We can serve boldly, love boldly, and speak boldly not because we’re confident in ourselves but because we’re confident that the Lord is with us.
